The Sweet Twilight Moon
The little booklet text for this card says:
The Moon, benign really, minds its own business in the night sky. It cannot help that it must merely reflect. The Moon can give you nothing more or less than your self, with a few shadows thrown in just to keep things interesting.
It is interesting that the sun is still visible, setting on the horizon. That is something we do not usually see in Moon cards. Perhaps it serves as a visual reminder that the Sun (representing our ego) plays a big role in what the Moon creates, so to speak.
The girl with her white orbs, what is she up to? Performing a ritual? Offering gifts? Trying to connect with the Moon’s power? Just goofing around?
Beautiful card! Interesting comment about the sun being in the picture. When that happens in real life, I find myself stopping and just “being” for a moment (not when I’m driving, of course). It’s like the visible presence of both luminaries in the sky requires my attention for some reason.
It looks as if the sun is setting, going away, and the birds are following it. It seems as if the moon is going to follow it and disappear, as well…but the woman is offering gifts to entice it to stay. I think the Moon looks intrigued at what she’s offering.
Alayna, I love the idea of enticing the moon. Very poetic and lovely. Thanks for sharing it.
it seems the girl is offering up her love and devotion for the secrets the moon goddess may share. The moon is slightly bemused, because all the secrets she can offer are already within the girl. She just has to search for them. The way the birds search for the daylight!
What deck is this from? I love the style. It resonates well with me!
Beautiful card! Something to definitely reflect upon!
I do the same thing Zanna ~ it always calls me to stop and look ~ I love it. It is very calming indeed. It looks like she is giving an offering, it looks as though it is already a piece of the moon. Like she is returning a love.
The moon is the clear face of our subconscious, the sun is our consciousness and what is already manifest, our task in life is too unite the two, and to make conscious and bring awareness to what is subconscious. I think it’s very fitting that both the sun and the moon be in the card, it holds a great teaching. The girl is holding orbs of energy perhaps demonstrating that all is energy and that what is only subconscious thought will become manifest, symbolised by the sun. And that all manifest reality, begins on a subconscious level.
The orbs of energy could also symbolise how we project our own consciousness onto the clear face of reality symbolised by the moon and that our consciousness and our will, symbolised by the sun is what illuminates and gives those projections a reality. Our world is a reflection of us, the projections of our own minds..our thoughts and will/intentions create our reality.
It is from The Tarot of the Sweet Twilight, one of my favorites. You can see more here.
I read the Tarot, I’m definitely considering getting this deck Barbara. 🙂
