Travels of a Wizard—Part 4
Still no internet access at the motel. Written from the Village Inn restaurant (free slice of pie with dinner on Wednesday!).
Back at INATS I spent some time with the wonderful people from Lo Scarabeo who had come in from Italy. Their decks, if you haven’t seen them, are some of the most remarkable, evocative, and powerful Tarot decks in the world. Barbara Moore was also there, as delightful as ever.
Then I did a book signing. Now, this was at a New Age convention and frankly, I didn’t expect many people would be interested in a more hard core occult book like Modern Magick. I was absolutely shocked to see a long line waiting for me. During the next hour I signed over 100 copies of the new edition of Modern Magick. My wrist is still sore.
After freshening up back at the motel (still no internet), I drove south to Isis Books. Nothing can prepare you for seeing the outside of this enormous store.
The Egyptian columns are more beautiful when you see them. They even have lots of parking space. The inside is open and airy with wide aisles and clearly identified sections:
They have a wide selection of herbs available, and the staff is friendly and knowledgable. The had a rare 1st edition of Modern Magick which I signed for them. Unlike some stores they are very successful by carrying a wide range of products and offering many services ranging from psychic readings to hypnotherapy. They even offer a coffee bar—watch out, Starbucks!
At Isis I did another book signing and gave a workshop that was well appreciated.
Tomorrow I’ll make a final visit to INATS and then it’s on to Minnesota. More to follow.
