Travels of a Wizard—Part 5
If you’ve been following this blog, you will have noticed that I didn’t post yesterday. I spent most of the day traveling. From Denver through Nebraska and Iowa into Minnesota.
When I traveled through Arizona, Utah and Colorado, there were beautiful, vast spaces surrounded by mountains. It was breathtaking. As I moved further north there were also large open spaces, many irrigated and growing crops or having small herds of cows. But it was flat. It just went on and on. Long sections of the freeway were seemingly designed with a straight edge.
It’s just so…flat.
I tried the radio. All I could get was the farm report. Sorghum, you’ll be happy to know, is up to 10-50. A hardware store advertised that they weren’t just for men. They also had new rubber mint candy molds. Another company advertised that they had rain gauges!!! for sale.
Did I mention that is was flat?
In short, the drive was long and boring. And long. And boring.
I forget. Did I tell you how freakin’ flat the land is?
I kept driving and driving. Dinner at “Skeeter Barnes” restaurant. Finally, I realized that I couldn’t continue driving. It was 3:00 a.m. I pulled into a rest stop and slept for five hours. When I woke I was refreshed enough to drive up to the Twin Cities, Minneapolis and Saint Paul, in Minnesota.
Wednesday I’ll spend some time at my publisher, Llewellyn. I’ll be giving a brief talk and doing another book signing. Then I have dinner scheduled with the president of the company, Carl Llewellyn Weschcke. If I have any news I’ll pass it on.
On Thursday, I’ll be meeting with my other publisher, Galde Press. They publish my novel, The Resurrection Murders.
On Friday, I’ll be giving a book signing and doing a brief free talk at Magus Books in Minneapolis. Then, on Saturday morning, I’ll be giving a workshop at Magus Books on “Magick for the Future.”
AFter the workshop I’ll immediately start driving home to L.A. I’ll have one day at home, then I’m leaving for the Starwood festival in Ohio. I’ll be giving three workshops there:
Experience Your Past Lives
You may have read about past lives. You may have even taken workshops on past lives. But have you ever actually experienced a past life? In this workshop you’ll discover what past lives are and have the opportunity to actually experience one or more with the aid of hypnosis. Don has led over 1,000 people to experience past lives in this workshop.
Magick For the Future
Most people are familiar with the traditions of spells and rites, but what forms of magick will people be doing in the future? In this workshop author Donald Michael Kraig will reveal the basics of three powerful magickal systems—NLP, Chaos Magick, and Postmodern Magick—that people are using today to make changes in their lives and reveals how you can use them to empower your magickal abilities.
Secrets of True Meditation
Most people are surprised to learn that every technique used in the better-known methods of meditation are found in the mystical methods of the West. From mantra to yantra there are Western counterparts from antiquity which resonate with the Western psyche and soul. In this workshop you will learn the secrets of real meditation as well as methods to enhance your meditational skills.

Did I mention that the road through Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota is FLAT?
So flat and so BORING! Which is why I chose to move to Denver—Denver is more entertaining than Nebraska, and not so flat.
