4 Ways to Tell if a Psychic Is Real
Readers, please enjoy this guest blog post by Karen Page, author of My Life Across the Table.
I have been very blessed to meet and read for thousands of people all over the world, and have found that for most human beings—no matter the country of residence, language spoken, chosen vocation, or religion—the threads that bind us together are the same. We all want to be safe, be able to pay our bills, make sure our children are cared for and protected, be healthy and vital…and of course we want to feel loved.
We all live someplace, work someplace, and hopefully have meaningful relationships in our lives. On the surface of our lives, the everyday things that we share appear to be the same.
I look at this through different eyes, though, because the truth is that everyone’s life truly is different, regardless of appearances. Our journey in this life and how we fulfill our karmic lessons make each of us a unique individual; it is the details of our lives that are unique, and the differences what define our individuality.
If a psychic is real they will immediately tell you something pertinent to your life at the beginning of your reading. This is something you can immediately identify as your own, and relevant to what is going on in your life at that time. They must say something specific about your current circumstances. Is the psychic asking you personal questions about your life? They shouldn’t have to ask you anything. It is these details, which let you know a psychic is reading for you and not your neighbor, that truly define a psychic’s ability.
These things being said, here are my four rules to help you decide if a psychic is the “real deal:”
- A psychic should be detached and not inject their personal opinion. This is your life, and the psychic is not your mother.
- A psychic must be honest, and not hedge or hold back information. It’s not their information to keep.
- A psychic must be accurate and specific. If the reading is vague, meaning that they are making statements that could fit anybody’s life, then they are not the real deal. Before you go ahead with a reading, the reader should give you information regarding something that you can identify in your life right now.
- Let the reader do the talking—you shouldn’t have to impart a lot of information. After all, that is the psychic’s job, now isn’t it?

I have been scammed by psychic before, after dating a guy for three months they all told me he was, coming back, after he moved away i found out on face book that he was married, not on of the psychic pick up on that.so two yrs later I met a girl we dated for almost 3 yrs, so I decided to try different companies of psychic reading, which once again I was scammed out of hundred of dollars just to hear the same words, yes she’s coming back it’s been a yrs with no return. My best aadvice is to pray and pray hard.
I want too know if psychic or real??
Hello From Lorey : Unless you ask the psychic a specific question. A Psychic should be able to let you know the reason why you are contacting them in the first 4 minutes of the reading. Not every detail. But a least something. Also being a spiritual psychic helps. Because of the higher energies that the psychic is working with. And the psychic should be able to give timing dates for when things will happen. http://www.arealpsychicreader.com

I do believe there are scammers, and I also believe there are the real deals. I don’t consider myself a psychic, but I do know that I’m able to pick up on the energy of others VERY easily. I can feel if something is wrong without even seeing them or hearing them. I also get messages from my intuition…things I wouldn’t have ever known in a million years that always end up being creepy in their accuracy. This is really all about building on your own intuition and allowing yourself to be guided by that intuition to direct you on your correct life’s path. It is literally like tuning into a different radio frequency….kind of like, when you meditate, you know it’s working when you are moved to a different place, or different inner vibration. It’s kind of the same feeling in a sense. Coincidences are NOT coincidences. That’s your intuition bringing you to that certain place, showing you your intuition. I spent so many years of my life seeing all of these coincidences and writing them off as sheer chance. When I started to accept the truth about it, my intuition exploded.
Everyone have their own opinion, As per my belief clairvoyant readings is a science and you can’t ignore science.
I understand what your saying by anyone reading shouldn’t have to ask questions, but I must say there is nothing wrong at all with having clients ask you something specifically. sometimes clients are wondering about a specific relationship, a specific job. The article makes it sound as if its wrong to ask a client “what can I help you with?” There is nothing wrong about that at all.
I can do a reading, a very thorough reading, but sometimes my clients want to ask about a certain man in their life, or their relationship with their mother or kids.
That is more specific. That doesn’t make the reading less authentic because I asked how I can help them.
In the end, it is the reader who is either authentic or not. Bottom line. HOW or the SPECIFICS of the reading are up to the reader. I do not want or like and dont have a set pattern of how I do a reading, it just happens. And when I dont feel it, I dont do the reading. Because I know that what I am doing is right. This is authentic.
Every psychic I’ve consulted has disappointed me. They seem only able to speak about three subjects. 1. Love. 2. Occupation/money. 3. Health. I am interested in none of these. My questions are quite specific, but no psychic (so-called) has ever said to me, “You are here to ask about X.”
They all fail due to their lack of intellect and education.
They all make silly assumptions based on my age and gender and appearance, and make statements derived from a quick “assessment” of me that reveal at once their ignorance, and their fraudulent stance.
I still seek answers. I have met only the half-baked. Are there really any genuine psychics? I wonder…
I saw a psychic & was told my chakras were blocked & I needed to have them opened & balanced for $150 for 7 sessions. I accepted. I was asked my full name, birthdate, religion etc, as well as that of my spouse. I went to my first appointment & was told I had let in negative energies when I dappled in Wicca years ago & needed stronger crystals etc for the work that needed to be done & paid another $100 for more powerful & possibly more sessions. I was also told I needed a Quartz (from Brazil I think) mined for me untouched, the best quality for $200 for me to keep & work with (I’m an energy worker) on myself & my family. I was told all of this would clear the 4 blocked chakras & would at the end help me identify my purpose. I feel like this turned into a lot of money & although I paid it, feel skeptical. Though the psychic is a good friend of a friend of mine.
Hi I would like to know if the extraordinary Chris – Astrologer – Psychic Medium – Parapsychologist is for real Please advise.
How do I know if “the extraordinary Chris – Astrologer – psychic medium – parapsychologist ” is for real or a scam. Please advise.
I was skeptical, until one day I encountered a real psychic, by a chance meeting while on a bike ride in Tempe, AZ. A middle-aged man looked at me and asked, “Is your name Harley?” “No, but my dad’s is!” I exclaimed. “He’s psychic!” his daughter (I assume) offered. Indeed… impressive. “You look like a Harley,” the man added. He looked like he was not really on the same plane as most of us to me, by his facial expression. B.T.W., my dad passed away years ago. Perhaps he was trying to reach out to me through a medium.
I’ve been having psychic readings for many years now, and have also gotten to know many psychics and clairvoyants, and I have also dabbled myself in tarot reading for a long time.
I’ve had some really awful readings, and some that were freakishly accurate and while I’ve learned that you can never be 100% sure of getting an excellent reading, nor can you ever get 100% accuracy, nevertheless there are places to go and things to look out for that can improve the quality of your reading dramatically. Psychics should be spiritual, empathetic, indepth but still would have a certain level of detachment because if they tell you what to do, then it’s like scolding.
So I thought I would share my knowledge by writing my own blog. I have reviewed a few places here and there http://www.signalriver.com/psychic-reading-reviews/
I’m no expert to be honest but I really want to help people.
Is this a true psychic?
i went to a psychic and she told me there was a lot of negativity on my aura and that someone put a curse on either me or my mother when she was pregnant with me. she gave me a bottle of what looks like foggy water with bubbles on top and to bath in it with hot water and pray for my family and enemies. she will light 2 candles and by the third day will tell me everything. Is she scamming me or no?
who called da disability people on me
I was on oranum, complete joke and waste of money. a trick they use when is comes to the demo, is that they can see if you dollars on your account, and they pick those to do a demo on. Psychic source is very expensive, and they tell you gobbly gook until they bleed you dry. I suspect Lucy Langly is a made up name and a made up web site. It is just way to send traffic to their websites.
Recently my wife and I had a reading from a medium in town. But after reading your article I think she wasn’t the real deal.A lot of the thing’s she said could fit anyone’s life. They were pretty generic questions
She hardly mentioned anything about my wife’s reading. Since she recently lost her mom a year ago.we live in Rhode Island is their any one you could recommend. Oh and she had a shop selling things. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you Ken
I had a reading with a ‘psychic medium’ on asknow and was scammed out of a significant amount of money. He had me. I wanted something so much that I was caught up in the moment. Sadly, I know better. AskNow refunding a small portion of my money but told me that I was engaged in the reading so the money they refunded was a courtesy…well, it wasn’t a reading. I read affirmations. It’s disgusting how these people take advantage of individuals who are feeling desperate. Do you research and stay away from AskNow!
I get emails daily from mediums etc…
George Tupak
Maria the medium
Extraordinary Ron
Chris
Adrian the astrologer
Bethea and now Diane
Are they fakes or are they real? can someone please tell me the truth.

I recently went to someone who is said to be a psychic. They made me bring white vinegar. They did not tell me anything but instead ask me questions about my age , family ( if I had siblings ) where my parents lived and what not. They went on to ask me why I came , I said it was for the reason of unfair events in the past few years. I wanted to know what was going on.
I had to buy eggs and I was then told that I was cursed and I had to remove these spells in order to have a future that mattered. For me to do this I would have to give him a big amount of money. And get certain things.
I am extremely scared , and I don’t know what to actually think ?
Hi, i recently went to a physcic and had my cards read. Some info was revealed top me. Long story short. It was $80.00 for the card reading plus $600.00 for bath salts, a special candle to reveal more things. We have stayed in contact. Very spiritual reader. But now to eliminate some more bad energy, she recommended certain special rock cleansing that will cost $800.00. What is your feedback. When someone says they work in the name of the Lord God. Is their trust?
99% of so called psychics are all scammers there is only 1 percent out there that was born with the actual gift trust me i know a psychic is someone who can see into the future and should know things about your past to so the best way to find out if they are real or not ask them to predict a few scores in say football games or any other games but on this you are giving them a 50/50 chance to get it right so ask them to predict not one game game but on a few games if they get them wrong they are fakes its as simple as that
It’s also important to make a distinction between true clairvoyance which can see through matter, and mind reading (which is not true clairvoyance).
A mind reader can simply tell you things you already know by reading your mind, this opens a way for deception and you are now more open to believing what they say, even if they make something up about your future.
A true clairvoyant can be tested as follows:
Pick up a book neither one of you have read, and without opening it, ask the clairvoyant to read say p. 17, 2nd Paragraph. After they read it, open the book and verify if that was correct. If so, this is a true clairvoyant.
Hi, I am on this sight.
Money, money, money.
They give you a date, you have to do it now.
I have been told I had the evil eye placed on me.
This is why I have no joy or am not wealthy.
I have been told I am blocked.
I was told if I change my name I would become
More lucky.
I have listened to astrologers, numeroloist
Physics, had cards read, all on the internet.
The difference is in person you would spot the phones right away.
The real ones never ask for money.
There is a true physic in New Jersey I have gone to
I had to wait four months to get in.
When every message is more money run. They are scam artist.
and i guess the 5th one she missed was if they was accurate or not
How Ironic, the psychic who wrote this article, Karen Page violated 3/4 rules in a 3-hour reading *shakes head* Ended up sounding just like a mom giving pushy advice.
My life has been crazier than I care to admit, and I’ve been considering speaking to a psychic to see what my future holds. I don’t want to get cheated however, but luckily your article had some great tips for telling if a psychic is real. You mentioned that a good psychic doesn’t hide information from you, as it is not their’s to keep, and I’ll keep this in mind if I decide to visit a psychic.
Reading some on the comments psychic means to me you will already know why the client is there and know the questions they are going to ask even before they ask hence knowing all answers I’m not a psychic but I do have regular readings that constantly ask why I have come to see them well I think it’s quite obvisious why I have come same old questions family love money work so I totally agree with this blog great read thank u!
I find this post pretty generic.
As a long time user of Llwellynn, I tend to respect the things that they publish and I do agree with you. But, when you do this for a living, up to eight hours a day, sometimes I do find it helpful when a client can at least give me a specific question regarding what they want to know about. It eliminates me wasting a lot of time reading other things that may be accurate in their lives, but they are really not interested in. This is especially true if I am only doing a sample reading of 15 minutes or less, when I do not have a lot of time to concentrate and am expected to give answers immediately. Sadly, we do increasingly live in a society that expects immediate gratification for everything and even though I am real, if I feel overly pressured to answer things too quickly due to time constraints, I do find it detrimental in being able to provide an honest accurate reading.
how much psychic reading is importance in our daily life?
We may be expecting too much. A “scientist” may be an expert on one field, chemistry for example, and know next to nothing about anther area like anthropology. An excellent hypnotist need not be a mind reader or a medium. Perhaps we use the term “psychic” to combine too many of the various talents. What they seem to have in common is that you don’t go to college to learn how to use them but you may go to a college to demonstrate that they really can be done. What the scientists and the psychics have in common (with the rest of us) is the need to use their abilities to make a living. They should conscientiously use these and never fake the answers.
In my many years as a reader professionally ( in fact, it is a way of life ) I have lost count of the number of people who come to me saying that another psychic has told them that they are cursed. Of course the psychic goes on to tell them that they can sort this out for what can only be described as extortionate fees. I am forever giving these people the truth, and the relief it brings to them is a sight to be seen.
You are 100% spot on when you saying that a Psychic shouldn’t have to ask you any questions.
A real psychic definitely won’t need any information or clues on your life for them to get a connection and be able to read your energy.
Word of mouth and lots of good reviews is also a great way to know if someone is the real deal or not.
With no regulations in the spiritual world, I’m not surprised that there are so many fake psychics.
It’s sad in a way because they make a bad name for the genuine ones who really care and have a gift to offer them.
