Let’s spend this summer studying The Sun card! Each entry between May and August (8 total) will feature a Sun card from a different deck along with the text the creator wrote for it. It will be interesting to see how so many people see difference aspects of this apparently simple card.

We’ve been to Wonderland and under the sea…now we enter the Dark Wood with Sasha Graham and Abigail Larson

  1. The Sun

The Sun is the archetype of Creator.

Health and vitality flourishes.

The Moon sets as the Sun rises. The Witch returns to the sacred garden to see a woman riding on a horse.

The Moon called to your eternal depths. What had risen, now flourishes in daylight. Darkness recedes. Shadows retreat like a scattering of ants. The Sun card reflects the abundance of a warm summer day. Your heart’s desire expands and grows. This card reveals the unfolding of who you are and what you are capable of. You in your glory riding into freedom.

The figure is naked. You have nothing to fear. Nothing to hide. You are free of attachment. She rides a horse, a symbol of power, mastery, and cooperation. Events work in your favor. Health and vitality are yours. The Sun rises behind a garden wall marking the boundary from past into the future. You safe from that which used to threaten you. The creeping ivy suggests inherent growth and expansion. It is the tendrils of connection.

Two pillars mark oppositional forces fueling life’s synergy. The Sun, the center of the solar system and the source of all life shines. Sunlight guides and warms you. You shine in the center of your universe.

Meaning – Expansion, renewal and growth. Brilliance and beauty. Pregnancy. The unfolding of the heart’s desire. Pleasure. Productive. Recognition of achievement.

Shadow Meaning – Jealousy. Blocking another’s light. Purposefully sabotaging another’s good fortune. Wanting all the attention for yourself. Not recognizing there is more than enough for everyone.
