Reading with the Witches Tarot

Because I am working on a presentation for a conference, I decided to ask the tarot for help in fine-tuning what I’ve done so far, using the Witches Tarot.

Overall: 4 of Wands

Strength: 5 of Cups

Weakness: 7 of Cups

I’m glad to see the overall message is a positive one. The workshop should be fun. I like the castle in the background, indicating goals achieved.

But I’m not there yet.

The 5 of Cups let’s me know that I’m not quite satisfied with it and should work on it a bit more. The two upright cups makes me think I’m still missing some key elements. And perhaps there are some that should be removed, especially if I cannot get them to feel right.

Edited to add: A dear colleague of mine gently pointed out that I am reading this as a weakness and not a strength. This is a good lesson in being aware of your own issues when reading for yourself. I tend to always criticize my work and never think it is good enough. On reflection, I think that the card now indicates that my workshop will help people see a solution that was there all along but they had not noticed it or thought of it. And this is exactly what I hope to provide!

The 7 of Cups as the weakness seems contradictory, in a way. It seems to say that I’ve too much going on in this workshop. Coupled with the thought in the previous card that some things should be removed makes me think that my focus isn’t as honed as it should be.

The absence of Swords makes me think that I need to sharpen my focus. The water makes it seem fuzzy and confused.

Regardless of my reading, you can see that these cards are so beautiful. They are not only pack a symbolic punch (Ellen describes everything very well in the companion book) but are also highly evocative. This is a powerful combination and one I really like to see in a reading.
