Manifesting with Your Senses
Readers, please enjoy this guest blog post by Awyn Dawn, author of Paganism for Prisoners and the new Paganism on Parole.
One of the most important magical abilities to develop is visualization. If you can make something real in your mind’s eye, then the universe will conspire to bring it to fruition. One of the challenges that people new to magic and divination often face is that they haven’t developed the ability to visualize. It’s okay. This doesn’t come naturally to all people. And even if you don’t ever get to the point where you can “see” something, you can still effectively manifest. This exercise will help you learn to engage all of your senses.
Sit in a room facing one wall. Scan that wall with your eyes open. Pick one item on or against the wall. Without touching each item, imagine how it feels. Without getting close, imagine its smell. Describe it. Not just the color, but the size and where it came from. What does it feel like? How does it fit into the room? What noises does it make?
Now close your eyes and try to recall all the details. Imagine everything you can about the object. Speak out loud all the details you can remember. Are there any senses that you remember more easily? Do the smells flood back, but the sounds take more effort?
When you want to magically manifest something, engage all of these senses. See if you can answer these questions for the item you want to manifest. If you want to manifest something intangible, such as a new job, add how it will fit into your life in addition to what it smells and sounds and looks like.
For an extra challenge, repeat the visualization, but try to take in all of the objects on or against the entire wall.
