The Robin Wood Tarot
This is one of Llewellyn’s older decks and definitely a favorite of many. It is very Rider-Waite-esque but pagan symbols rather than Christian. Here are a few of my favorite cards from this deck.
I love the way he is carving feathers out of stone. It’s an interesting way to depict a high level of craftsmanship.
The movement of her gown and hair, the tumultuous sky work together to create a sense of drama and danger in this card.
As a spinner myself, I love any image that includes a spinning wheel.

This has long been one of my favorite decks. I also like the 3 of Pentacles for the craftsmanship it depicts – the feathers are so delicate even though carved from stone. That I could be so talented! Your post also reminds me that the Robin Wood deck has been lurking in the back row of my decks for way too long. Time to bring it out again 🙂
I LOVE the Robin Wood tarot. It was the second deck I ever used, and it remains my ‘desert island’ deck to this day. When I first used it, it turned the ‘art history’ part of my brain back on and really revolutionized my reading style. I cannot overstate what a positive impact this deck had on my life.
Barbara,
What do you think of the ‘extra’ VOID card in this deck? I rarely ever use it, but I can see the wisdom of understanding in realizing that sometimes we cannot perceive or receive an ‘answer’.
Love the deck! It is one of the first I purchased. What is the medium she used… Watercolor? Colored pencil? The drawing is beautiful and the layering of color very rich… I keep going back to this deck like a dear old friend…
