Why Crows Will See the End of the World

I think that slowly, over time, we have come to the realization that we may not be the only intelligent creatures on the planet. In fact, we are beginning to celebrate this fantastic news, and 
even test it and discuss it scientifically.
In particular, I speak of crows….that most clever and wily of the feathered ones. Thousands of years from now, when many species of birds (and other critters, no doubt) have perished at the hands of modern chaos, the crow may just be the last bird standing. He can make tools, solve problems, and surface from any dumpster with the largest potato chip.
He is a mystery, of course, and has graced world mythology for centuries, but he lingers and learns and conquers a little more each day. I have written a great deal of the crow in The Healing Wisdom of Birds because I admire its ability to adapt to whatever gets tossed its way. Many of us crumble in life when we encounter road blocks; the crow will simply find new and exciting ways to get around them. It is a gift that humans could utilize, but for which we rarely make room, and a skill that will carry the crow species to the very end, I believe.
So give the crows their due…. and save a few potato chips at the end of the bag to celebrate the great black mystery that is Crow.

I will have to check out your book; I’ve always had a fascination with crows, they tolerate me pretty well and generally let me get closer to them than most folks can; not that I’m all that stealthy.
We have a stream close by my home, if you sit for a lil while, you’ll most always have Ravens come to drink close by, a good place for ‘still hunting’ really; if you intention is to observe. Thanks for Sharing Brightest Blessings, BB.
“Slowly, over time”? Indigenous cultures have known this since… well, just about forever. Shamans, after all, communicate with animal spirits (and incarnate animals) on a regular basis.
Excellent point Snowy, animal communication is as old as culture itself. The blog was really aiming at many modern day humans, the majority of whom have lost that natural tendency to understand the messages and wisdom of animals.
