The High Priestess is usually shown sitting between two pillars, in a portal between worlds. If you internalize her wisdom, you move from one world into another. On a more mundane level, so it is with the Twos. They show a time of balance or limbo, before a choice is made (or in the case of the Cups, just as the choice is being made). At the time of the Twos, there are two possible futures and choice to be made. Once the choice is made, then one of the possible futures is eliminated. With the High Priestess, once you admit that knowledge, whatever it is, that lies within you, you are initiated into another world. Do you know people who love to make jewelry but don’t wear it, love to bake but don’t eat sweets, or something like that? I am that way with spreads. I really love creating spreads; I don’t mean the on-the-spot specific spreads, but more general spreads. I make them up, test them, use them a while, and then forget that I made them. I don’t like testing them out on clients right away, so I make up people and pretend to read for them using the spreads. You all do that, too, right? Like many tarot enthusiasts, I have quite a collection of decks. Most of them don’t get used much, beyond an initial review, some brief study, and a few readings. No matter what decks move through my life, I always have one main deck that I use. This deck has changed over the years, so I think of myself as a serial monogamist. The World Spirit Tarot was one of my longest and fondest relationships. I adored this deck and still have my beat up old cards and worse-for-the-wear book, signed by artist Lauren O’Leary in 2001. I am not sure why I move on from one deck to another. And generally speaking, I don’t go back. However, this may be a first. The World Spirit is calling to me.
