In a book titled Religious Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know – And Doesn’t, university professor Stephen Prothero wrote that “Americans are both deeply religious and profoundly ignorant about religion.” This summer, researchers from the independent Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life conducted a survey to find out just how ignorant we are.
