3. A secret society organized in the late 1880’s, often referred to simply as The Golden Dawn or the G.D. It was able to synthesize several forms of magick and occult philosophy into a coherent but complex whole. Most books on magick written in the 20th and 21st centuries have been written by people who were members of that Order, or who were directly or indirectly influenced by that organization.
