Author Of Curative Magic

An Interview with Rachel Patterson

1. Your new book is Curative Magic. What inspired you to write it?
So many people, myself included, struggle with the pace of modern day life. We are constantly assaulted from every angle with media, news, adverts, advice, marketing, and all manner of other visual and audible means. There doesn't seem to be any respite. I am convinced that it is the daily onslaught that contributes to issues that we then suffer, such as anxiety, stress, and panic attacks. The realization was that we, as Witches and Pagans, have an advantage—we have a magical tool kit to help us get through these issues. As I already worked with magical herbs, plants, and foods, it made sense to put them into action to help with all of these issues. Helping myself was the first step, and being able to share with others is a blessing.

2. Curative Magic focuses on the power that the natural world can provide to our Craft. Why are natural ingredients so powerful?

Every single natural item has energy. It doesn't matter whether it is a weed growing through the crack in the pavement, a field full of corn, a pebble from the beach, a leaf fallen from a tree, or the tub of pasta in your kitchen cupboard. Each one will have a unique and individual energy that we can tap into to help us with our magic. Why are they so powerful? Because Mother Nature created them, she provides us with a whole list of items, each one that can help us in many ways.

3. Do users need any previous magical experience to use the rituals and recipes in Curative Magic?

The book is written with clear explanations and instructions for each step. The recipes and rituals all have "how to" guides. The book is designed for newcomers and experienced magical workers alike.

4. Why is it so important for us to maintain our connection to the natural world?

Nature heals. It really is as simple as that. Just stepping outside to take a deep breath of fresh air can help sooth our body, spirit, and soul. Nature gives us a connection not only to Mother Earth but to every living thing.

5. What do you hope readers take away from Curative Magic?

My aim is to help support readers and hopefully provide some form of healing and relief, even if only in a small way.
