Like many astrologers, I have had more than one career. I worked in an accounting firm, directed the operations of academic libraries, had my own psychotherapy practice, with a partner and owned an independent bookstore. I also taught at both high school and college levels. Right after I earned my master's degree, I went to work for a CPA in Denver, Colorado. His secretary was taking an astrology class, and one day she asked me about the math. I didn't know anything about astrology, but I figured I could understand the math. It turned out to be systematic addition and subtraction of numbers derived from books of tables. Not all that big of a deal, but I could tell math was not the instructor's strong suit. Once I got into it, I asked Terri, the secretary, to teach me the interpretation part, and I continued to help her figure out the math. I was seriously hooked and I enrolled for the next class. That was about 1972. I get bored easily. You probably figured that out when I listed all those careers. I love education, both teaching and studying, and I have the degrees to show for it. I just had a hard time finding the one career that would harmonize with my heart song. Astrology is definitely it. Why astrology? This is the one subject that grows and stretches with each new thing I learn. I will never master all the techniques available to contemporary astrologers, nor does anyone really need to. But the more I learn, the more I see the intelligence of the created Universe. I see how life is made up of the potential each person is born with, and I see how the planetary cycles reveal and reflect our capacity to grow, to learn, and most of all, to love. Astrology Made Easy As a psychologist, I want to help people. In today's tightened economy, many people can't afford the expense of psychotherapy. A lot of people don't believe they need therapy (and they are right). What people do need is informative, truthful, understandable resources to help them make better life decisions. Astrology does this brilliantly. Sure, if you need therapy, you can find a good counselor. If what you need is information, astrology provides information that is uniquely attuned to you as an individual. The most common questions my clients ask are about:
We each unfold at our own pace, and we each continue to reflect our birth chart throughout our lives. Astrology reflects both potential and creative development. As we gain self awareness and information, we can use these two resources to choose the road we travel. Understanding personal potential is one key to unlocking the brightest, most satisfying future. Understanding other members of your family can relieve you of emotional burdens and enrich your daily interactions. Mapping Your Family Relationships grew out of my study of psychology, astrology, and my own family dynamics. With the book and CD-ROM program, you will see how each family member's perspective is unique, and you will develop clarity about your position with the family. After writing the book, I had the opportunity to test the program. I found new insights about my family in the interpretations of their charts—words that I wrote myself without fully understanding how they would come together personally. Astrology has once again proven to be a powerful personal resource. |
