Incense of the day: Basil Sometimes life gets so hectic we fail to take time to give our aid to charity. This is the feast day of St. John the Almsgiver; as patriarch of Alexandria, he was known for his generosity to those less fortunate, regardless of their religion. Today would be a good time to perform a spell that would focus your energy on giving. On your altar place one white candle, a small new houseplant, and one penny. Light the candle and say: "This candle burns for the ill, the poor, and the lonely. Let this flame lead me to those in need. So mote it be." Thank the earth for what you have by pressing the penny into the plant's soil. As you care for the plant let it remind you of the spell, and as the plant grows know that so does your spirit of giving. |
