Spell: Spirit Banishing Spell

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Color of the day: Yellow
Incense of the day: Evergreen

During the Feast of Lemures ("restless dead") the ancient Romans exorcised malevolent ghosts of the dead from their homes. The ghosts were appeased by offerings of beans and salt-wheat cakes prepared by the Vestals. We can clear our homes of unwanted spirits by placing offerings of cakes and drink on our table at dinner for them. After the meal, place the offerings outside to draw the spirits out of your home. Draw banishing symbols in chalk and hang mirrors on the doors, windows, or anywhere a spirit could re-enter your home. To keep the spirits away from your door, hang sprigs or a small wreath of marjoram, mint, and rosemary.
