Color of the day: Gray
Incense of the day: Cedar The Islamic month of Ramadan, a month of strict fasting, ends today. Muslims observe this by enjoying a three-day celebration known as Festival of the Breaking of the Fast. Visiting and exchanging small gifts are common activities today, and families prepare favorite foods. Since breaking the fast is a major theme today, people of all faiths can learn something from this Islamic experience. To begin, prepare or purchase one of your favorite foods, but don't eat it. Instead, share it with friends or an elderly person who finds it hard to cook. You may also purchase food and donate it to a food bank. In some small way it may help us appreciate the Islamic tradition of fasting, and at the same time we have a chance to help others. |
