Today is the anniversary of the first online bulletin board systems, the ancestors of our e-mail lists and social networking sites.
That makes it a great day to review how we spend time online. Does it make you happy or leave you upset? Do you have time to focus on longer projects, or are you always in crisis response mode? Consider taking a break from the 'Net (once a week, once a month) to rebalance. Make it easy to focus on what matters most to you (family, friends, passions) by putting those bookmarks, files, and apps front and center. Remove any that are no longer part of your life, and hide those that distract you. Change your desktop image or profile photos to something that reminds you of a current goal or passion. Technology can be part of a rich and full life-as long as you're intentional. |
