|The Fool, the Sacred Clown, the Trickster-this mythic figure has many names and many faces but appears in cultures around the world. Sometimes male, sometimes female, the Trickster often crosses gender lines to express some combination of both. The Trickster cracks jokes and breaks rules. Likewise, most cultures have a Day of Misrule or other occasion for turning everything upside down. All Fools' Day or April Fools' Day is one such example.
Today, honor the Fool by doing things differently than usual. You might dress in clashing colors. Try talking in Pig Latin or saying the opposite of everything you mean. Talk to people you typically ignore. Read a book or watch a movie about trickster figures. Tell stories about tricksters such as Robin Hood or Coyote. (Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner count too.) Have fun with it!
Don't try to do formal magic today. It will just go awry.
