The new moon is a time of endings and beginnings. This makes it a great time for cleaning. You remove the old to make room for the new, just as the moon renews itself each month. The familiar cycle of the moon helps remind you to keep up with cleaning, too.

For this spell, you will need a new broom. Preferably, choose one with natural straw and a wooden handle, although it can be any size. You also need a few drops of essential oil in any scent associated with cleansing, such as lemon, mint, or pine. Anoint the bristles with a few drops of oil and say:

New moon and new broom,

So much to see, so much to do.

Clean sweep and clean room,

Out with the old, in with the new!

Sweep your floors with the new broom. Smell the sweet scent of the cleansing oil carried by the bristles as they work. Dispose of the dirt outdoors.
