Color of the day: Gray
Incense of the day: Rose The Buddhists celebrate this day as the feast day of the Triple Blessings, honoring the Buddha's birth, his enlightenment, and his passage into nirvana. Interestingly, three is a sacred number in all spiritual faiths. In the Pagan tradition, for instance, we celebrate Maid, Mother, and Crone and the concepts they represent: increase, realization, and decrease, which are, of course, the same concepts we find in the Triple Blessings. Today, decorate your altar in bright flowers and gaily colored cloth. Place either a likeness of the triple goddess or the Buddha at the center of your altar. Make an offering of rice, money, and incense to the deity, and write three wishes on a sheet of fine paper. Ask blessings for the summer ahead. |
