Color of the day: Black
Incense of the day: Ginger Saint Leonard, patron saint of horses, childbirth, prisoners, and home security, is honored today. Legend has it that while the king and queen of France visited Saint Leonard, the queen went into labor. As a reward to Saint Leonard for helping the queen in childbirth, the king granted amnesty to any prisoner the saint visited. Perhaps Saint Leonard feels responsible for prisoners who, once granted freedom, return to a life of crime. In any case, he's invoked against theft. Gather three keys of any manufacture-so long as they don't unlock any door in your house. Tie them together with a length of white ribbon. Knot the ribbon three times. Say: Knot of one, Saint Leonard come! Knot of two, no theft ensue. Knot of three, safe are we. Hang the blessed keys over your front door. |
