Today the Romans celebrated Consualia, in honor of Consus, a god of sowing and the stored harvest. During this day beasts of burden (horses, mules, and oxen) were given the day off. Like those animals, it's really easy for us to fall into habits of work. Where are you working too hard?
Take a deep breath and spend some time with your body. Listen to your feet, your ankles, your knees. To your thighs, hips, back, shoulders, neck, arms, hands, and face. Take a breath in each place, releasing tension and extra work. Do you clench your jaw, or use extra effort to sit a certain way? Find freedom in your movement. Throughout your day, check in with your body every hour or two, and release that tension. Find ways to go through your day with less effort, and give that energy to your other goals. |
