Although April 1st is known universally as April Fools' Day, this year it falls on the Wednesday before Easter. In many communities this day is known as Ugly Wednesday, and begins the Easter holiday. Let us leave the fools behind and swing into action.
This spring day may be a good time to start spring cleaning. Go through your closets and cupboards to see what cleaning items you have and what you need. Discard those almost-empty containers. You will not use that last little bit, so let it go. Inspect any cleaning rags, and discard those that may be completely unredeemable and wash the rest. Create a shopping list of supplies you need to replenish. Is this the year you finally turn to a more earthfriendly line of cleaning products, or create your own? Use rags instead of paper towels? Include larger projects not seen on your typical cleaning regimen: ceiling fans, air intake and outflow grids/grates, baseboards, corner cobwebs. Every member of the family can help. Schedule breaks and meals to keep your energy level up. Even if you can only devote an hour or two every day, by Saturday afternoon your abode should be sparkling and you may all relax for the remainder of the weekend. |
