The items you'll need are two candles(one brown and one green), the Empress card from the tarot, some dried basil, and a dish of soil from your garden. On your altar, place the candles, and between them lay the Empress card. In front of the card, set the dish of garden soil, sprinkled with a small amount of dried basil. Light the candles and look intently at the Empress card. She is the Earth Mother and holds the power of creation, fertility, and bounty. Now stir the basil and soil together with your hand. Basil is a superb protective herb. Hold the dish of soil and say: "Earth Mother, life giver and protector of seeds, Bless my garden's soil, And give me all that I need." End by sprinkling the soil over the garden. |
