Spell: Hanging of the Greens

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Decorating our homes for the holidays was traditionally called the "hanging of the greens." But as you select your Yule/Christmas tree and holiday greenery, do you realize how magically significant the evergreens are? These noble trees are the elders of the tree kingdom. They witnessed the creation of our planet and survived the ice ages.

This spell will bring protection and good fortune to your home. Before you decorate your tree, remove three pine needles from it. Place them on a green cloth with a lock of your hair. Face the tree and say:

"I thank you, tree and all greenery that has been cut, Bring me and my home good fortune and luck. Ancient one who has seen the centuries pass, Our bond shall forever last."

Tie up the cloth with green thread or yarn, and bury near your threshold.
