Spell: Light Away the Blues

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Cold days and long, dark nights are challenging for the best of us, but even more so for those affected by seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Our ability to light our way in the darkness has always been one of our most important needs.

For this spell, gather one candle for each of the four directions and one white candle for spirit. You will also need one small sage bundle.

Light the white candle and then use it to light the other four candles. Light your smudge stick. Pass the smoke over your lighted candles while saying:

"Spirit, blessed, powerful, and bright, I am always surrounded by the light. Darkness has no place in me, For by your light, I see clearly."

Repeat this ritual whenever you need a lift from the dark days of winter or anytime you are feeling blue.
