In the Anderson Feri Reclaiming Tradition, there is an important phrase that is often spoken at their gatherings: "There is enough if we share." This simple saying reminds us that the wealthy abundance of resources provided to us by Mother Earth is more than enough to sustain us all if we share. Survival is a team sport, after all. In their ritual feasts they bless their food, saying, "May you never thirst" and "May you never hunger." These prayers offer simple gratitude and acknowledgment of the abundance of Mother Earth, reminding ourselves and the community that we are stronger, healthier, and wealthier together. Gather with your community. This could be a friend (or a few), your pets, or your plants. Prepare food and drink for the beings who have gathered. Holding your hands over the drink, say: May you never thirst. Serve the beverage to all present. Now, with the food, say: May you never hunger. Enjoy the food and drink with love and gratitude for all who have joined together. |
