Spell: Rise From Darkness

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Physical exercise can enhance magic; movement activates intention and meditation. When you're feeling low (an affliction all of us deal with many times throughout the course of our lives), try this movementbased meditation to rise from darkness. All you need is a chair.

Begin seated. Feel your feelings; ground yourself in them. Next, visualize a light above your head. Stand up and into the light, and let it flood through you-then sit down again. Try to do this ten times. This exercise, a simple "sit-stand," activates your leg and core muscles and increases circulation. The up-down movement is rhythmic and meditative, but most importantly you are in control, choosing when to rise and when to sit down again. The light is always there.

Enhance this mini magical workout by placing on your temples a drop or two of uplifting oil, such as ylangylang, lemon balm, or neroli.
