In the Tarot, the Magician represents mystical influence and knowledge. He stands over an altar laden with symbols of power. Setting up your altar this way is one approach to connecting with the Tarot.
For this spell you’ll need your altar, a Tarot deck, symbols of the four suits (typically cups, pentacles, swords, and staves), and a wand. Lay out the suit symbols on your altar, trying to match the image of your Magician card as closely as possible. As an example, you could use a chalice or bowl for cups, an altar plate or pentagram for pentacles, a sword or athame for swords, and a staff or wand for staves. Take out the four aces and put one in each corner of the altar. Hold your wand over your head. Feel the energy of the Tarot. Visualize it forming a bridge between you and your deck, allowing you to commune with the cards and understand their meanings. Afterward, return the aces to the deck and your tools to their usual places. It’s best to store your Tarot deck on or near your altar. |
