Wednesdays are associated with the god Mercury, thanks to the Romans, who named the days of the week after the gods (as well as the known planets). In French, Wednesday is mercredi, and in Spanish it is miercoles. In English, however, Wednesday comes from the Old English Wodensdaeg, after the Germanic god Woden, or Odin. Both Mercury and Odin are associated with change, the acquisition of knowledge, and wisdom, which makes today a great day for tasks related to research and studying. Writing something down is proven to be one of the most effective ways of remembering it.
