October 4th is officially recognized as the day when the Catholic Feast of St. Francis of Assisi is celebrated. During the celebration, people will often have their pets blessed, as Assisi was said to have loved animals. We can also take a moment to provide a blessing for our pets to ensure they are protected. With today being a Saturday, there is a lot of associated energy that goes into protection.

We can call upon Artemis, as she is a goddess and protector of animals and nature. All you will need for this blessing is some salt water. As you initiate the blessing, dip your finger or thumb into the salt water and then draw a pentacle or crescent moon on the forehead of your pet. As you do this, say:

Artemis, I lift my pet up to you.
Please bless and protect them.

Finish up the spell by brushing, petting, or spending additional time with your pet.
