Color of the day: Brown
Incense of the day: Sandalwood September 29th is Michaelmas Day honoring the archangel Michael. Michaelmas customs are entwined with old harvest customs, so a feast is definitely called for on this day. Goose is the traditional entree. A fruity white called "Saint Michael's Love" is served today. Carrots are also considered lucky both to eat or to make into charms. To make them into a charm, wrap three carrots in a bunch with red thread. If you find forked carrots, they are especially lucky. Say: Cleft, fruitful, fruitful, fruitful, Joy of carrots pass upon me. Michael the brave endowing me, Bride the fair aiding me. |
