Spell: March Sowing Blessing

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Color of the day: Purple
Incense of the day: Carnation

In Ireland and Scotland, the word for March (Mairt, Marta) came to mean "the appropriate time to perform agricultural work." Sowing was a magical act performed in a very ritualized manner. Here is a traditional Scottish sowing blessing you can use for planting seeds in the earth or in a spring ceremony for magical growth:

I go out to sow the seed
In the name of the gods who give it growth.
I will put my face toward the wind
And throw a goodly handful on high.
The dew will come down to welcome the seeds,
And every one will take root.
The power of the gods be upon
Every thing that is in my ground.
