Color of the day: Lavender
Incense of the day: Clary sage Depending upon which calendar you follow, the Megalesa games in honor of Cybele fall in either early April or early May. Unlike games to prove athletic prowess, these were considered "scenic," such as plays and tableaux in honor of the goddess. If you wish to celebrate with others, get together and discuss the basic outline of your play, pull together some simple props and costumes, and improvise the rest. Use the attitude of "I have a barn (yard, garage, living room), let's put on a play!" Invite friends and neighbors, or just invoke the goddess herself to observe. If you prefer to celebrate as a solitary, create a table display or diorama in honor of Cybele. Light candles and make offerings of honey and grain. Either way, make sure your table is abundant with festival food and drink, since Cybele is a primitive Earth goddess. |
