Color of the day: Silver
Incense of the day: Neroli July is the month when the Dog Star, Sirius, rises with the Sun. The goddess most associated with Sirius is Demeter, the goddess of grain and fertility. In ancient Greece, priestesses offered honey and fig cakes to Demeter. Honey has long been used in love spells and as an aphrodisiac. To grant your love match, use the magical properties of honey. Light a yellow candle on your kitchen table and bake a fig cake as an offering to Demeter. While the cake is baking, lay out two strips of rice paper. Write your name on one strip and the qualities you seek in a lover on the other strip. Spread honey over each strip and place the written sides together. Pray to Demeter to grant you the gift of love. Eat the honeyed strips of paper. Thank Demeter and leave the fig cake offering at the foot of a tree. |
