| Now the Earth retreats into darkness as we enter the dark half of the year. The darkness has a special energy of its own which aids in magical work. This spell draws upon the subtle energies found in darkness, which propel magic into the unseen realm more quickly. After sunset, preferably well after dark, cast a circle or say a protective prayer. Walk clockwise around your space as you carry a black candle, but do not light it. Speak Words of Power and announce your desire, whatever it might be. Rub the candle to charge it. Feel your magic being absorbed by the candle. As you near the end of your spell, put the candle down in a safe place and light it. The flame is now releasing your need into the cosmos. Let the candle burn out. Your wish will be fulfilled. So mote it be.
