A fire festival celebrating sexuality and fertility, Beltane was traditionally when young women slept outdoors. Tonight, wherever you sleep, create darkness and ritually cultivate the wild within. Then ignite a small light, and sow creative brilliance in your fertile soil. Unite male and female -active/receptive, form/creativity, light/dark-to produce creative "babies." From the dark recesses of sexuality, spirituality, and ancient wisdom grow our greatest masterpieces.
Gather a candle, matches, drinking water, paper, and pen. Arrange your tools, then sit in darkness. Envision the forest glade. Create sacred space. Invoke fairies and forest folk for protection. Light the candle: "The fires of Bel burn within, true passion burns bright." Sip water: "I water fertile creativity, blessing and good fortune tonight." Ask yourself: "What do I want to birth/create?" Use pen and paper and write without stopping, without thinking. Write until your creative idea, your "baby," comes to light. |
