In the United States, it’s Independence Day and a perfect time to declare your personal independence from something that is holding you back.

Gather these supplies:
* White paper
* A red pen
* A white candle in a holder
* Matches or a lighter
* A blue ceramic dish

Pick one thing in your life from which you wish to declare your independence. Write it on the paper in red ink.

Light the candle, saying:

This flame represents the
spark of liberty.

Carefully touch the paper to the flame and say:

I declare my independence
from (what’s written).

Drop the paper into the dish and watch it burn to ash. Scatter to the winds. Let the candle burn down on its own if possible.

Repeat the declaration if you feel pulled back into a negative pattern.
