Spell: Pyromancy

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

What revelations can be found dancing in the flames or within the tendrils of smoke of your ritual fire? What secrets can be revealed in the dying embers? Pyromancy is a method of scrying using fire. There are several ways of practicing this form of divination, including the following:

  • Observing flames: Toss herbs, bark, leaves (laurel is traditional), twigs, or nuts into your ritual fire, and ask your question. Interpret answers through the shapes formed in the flames or by the color of the fire.
  • Symbols in smoke: The rising or settling of the smoke may be revealing. Smoke rising straight up is positive, and low-hanging smoke indicates a negative response.
  • Interpreting coals: Throw salt into a dying fire and watch for the shapes formed in the embers.

Before practicing pyromancy, say something like this:

Within the heart of the dancing flame
Lies secret knowledge to be gained.
Reveal your mysteries meant for me
By spark, ember, and flame—so mote it be.
