Spell: Honoring Vesta

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Color of the day: Lavender
Incense of the day: Hyssop

Today is the third day of Vestalia, a Roman festival devoted to Vesta, the virgin goddess of hearth and home. During this week-long period of festivities the women made sacrificial offerings at her altars throughout the city. The Virgo Moon invites us to enter the temple of Vesta today. We come before this goddess who embodies purity, duty, and order. Here we can learn the principles of health, self discipline, and the practical application of skills. We can honor these gifts by pledging to keep the hearth fire burning in our own holy dwelling, our physical bodies. She reminds us that compassion toward oneself fosters creativity. So adorn yourself with the veil of Vesta and acknowledge her with a personal sacrifice. Step forward and receive her blessing and surrender your offering into the sacred flame.
