Spell: An Opulent Celebration

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Historically, today was Opiconsivia, a Roman festival in honor of Ops. She represents an aspect of the Great Mother Goddess, the Earth as source of crops and life. Her festival included a chariot race and horse parades. To celebrate this holiday, the presiding priestess should wear a white robe and a white veil. Lavish jewelry is also appropriate, since Ops is the goddess of opulence and treasure. Set the altar with flowers, figures of horses, vegetables and grains, stones, and other Earth symbols. Let the celebrants chant:
Praise be to Ops, goddess of Earth, Who brings the crops and herds to birth! Come forth, Ops, from ripening land, And spill your blessings from your hand!
The priestess dispenses gold-foiled chocolate coins, saying:
Treasure I give, to have and hold, But know that not all treasure's gold:
Knowledge I give, for wisdom's rich, And the Wise Ones know which is which.
