As a tree hugger, it seems logical to me to send trees love and peace at the end of their growing season. After all, they give us shade, oxygen, fruit, and more. The Fall Equinox marks the day when the Wheel of the Year starts to turn toward the dark months. It’s a perfect time to send some love and gratitude to ancient tree spirits, as soon they will lose their leaves and go dormant for the winter. For this spell you will need 3 cups water in a pot and ½ cup each dried lavender, rose petals, and chamomile. Bring the water to a boil on the stove, and add the herbs. Simmer for five minutes, then remove from the heat and let cool. Strain the mixture into a pitcher and go outdoors where your favorite trees live. Pour a bit of the brew at the base of as many tree trunks as you like. Think about what they’ve provided over the summer, and feel gratitude for each one individually as you pour. Tree spirits will be able to feel the appreciation in your offering and thoughts, which is a nice way to be put to bed for the winter. |
